Apple
CEO Tim Cook joked at his recent appearance at the D: All Things
Digital conference that he had decided to “double down on secrecy” when
it comes to products under development at the company.
As it happens, there is remarkable lack of agreement on what Cook
will announce when he takes to the stage next Monday morning at the 2012
Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek thinks the company could surprise the
Street and announce a move into the TV business. He contends in a
research note that Hon Hai has already begun production, and that an
Apple TV will launch in the second half of 2012. He also says that both
AT&T and Verizon are testing the new TV in their labs, and that
Rogers, Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom likewise are testing the new
TV.
Is it true? We’ll find out Monday.
